Antarctic Heritage Trust

This photo of Alexander Stevens, Chief Scientist, on board the Aurora, as part of Ernest Shackleton’s Ross Sea Party (1914-1917), has never been seen before until today. One of 22 photos, these images could have been lost forever had the Antarctic Heritage Trust (NZ) not discovered them hidden in Captain Scott’s 1911 expedition base, where the Ross Sea Party spent time. Developed in Antarctica, they have been painstakingly conserved by the Trust.
